Alaskan Cruise 2003

As many of you know, my family and I just returned from an Alaskan cruise, another trip that I earned from Close To My Heart.  I feel very blessed to be a part of this company and to be able to go on trips like this.  The splendor of Alaska is indescribable, and I wanted to share a few photos with you.  We sailed on the Star Princess to Juneau, Skagway, Tracy Arm Fjord, Ketchikan, and Victoria, British Columbia.   As always, Close To My Heart pampered us all the way, with a balcony stateroom, welcome reception, and gifts every single day.  There were 44 of us who earned the trip, and it was great fun getting to know everyone.  This time we took our boys, ages 10 and 12.  They (and we) had a fabulous time!

Here we all are on deck on the Star Pricess!  We are in Tracy Arm Fjord, with the South Sawyer Glacier behind us.  The picture includes everyone... consultants, husbands, kids, and staff.

Here we are, all suited up for our Mendenhall Glacier Float Trip.  This was a group excursion for consultants and their families.  Mendenhall Glacier is behind us.  The meltwater feeds Mendenhall Lake (also behind us), which is 34 degrees.   The river goes off to the right.  We traveled across the lake and 5 miles down the river and a few sets of mild rapids.  Cold, but fun!

The Star Princess has everything you could wish for, including a pool that the kids absolutely loved.  They also loved going to the ice cream parlor every day!

One of our excursions was a helicopter ride and a glacier landing in Skagway.  It was cold and drizzly on the glacier, but the advantage of cloud cover is that the true colors of the glacier can be seen (the sun washes out the colors in the ice).

Tracy Arm Fjord is a long, narrow ribbon of water up to 1000 feet deep with mountains rising sharply on each side.  At the end of the fjord are North and South Sawyer glaciers, brilliantly blue and coming up to the water's edge.  We spent an entire morning on our balcony watching the gorgeous scenery.

This could be you someday!  If you'd like more information about becoming a Close To My Heart consultant, click here.
