Idea of the Month

2-for-1 Scrapbook

Here's a great way to create TWO albums when you buy just ONE!  This month I'll share how to make one of our scrapbooks into TWO albums: one to keep, and one to give as a gift.  Here's how:

Supply List

Any size My Legacy TM or Simple Legacy TM Scrapbook Album (I used 6x6")

Extra set of posts and screws, OR ribbon, jute, fibers, etc to tie the  2nd book together

Your choice of stamps, inks, and papers to design the covers of both books (I've used the Bulbs in Bloom Outline set for the cover).

Cardboard

Hole Punch

Clear or Matte Memory Protectors®-  enough to fill each album as desired

Adhesive

Step 1: Take your Album Apart

First, disassemble your scrapbook album.  Take out the posts and screws and separate the cover.  (Note: you will not be using the spine cover- the piece of fabric that covers the posts when the album is closed.   You will use the covers as the BACK cover of each of your albums.  Divide your Memory Protectors TM between the 2 albums as desired.

Step 2: Create the Covers

Stamp up a cover for each of your albums as desired.  As far as size, you have 2 options:

A.  Make a cover the same size as the back cover (this is what I did in the photo above).  This means it should be about 6-3/4" x 8".  You will want to glue your cover onto a piece of cardboard to stiffen it. You will also need to mark and punch 2 holes in the left edge of the cover to match up with the holes on the album itself.

B.  Make a cover that is 6x6", so that you can slide it into the first Memory Protector® in your album.  With this method, your cover is protected by plastic.  Place a piece of 6x6" cardboard in the Memory Protector® along with the cover to stiffen it.

Step 3: Reassemble the Albums

For the first album, all you need to do is replace the posts, fill the album with Memory Protectors® add your cover, and screw it all together.

For the second album:  If you bought an extra set of posts and screws, just repeat the above process for the second scrapbook.  If you are using ribbon (or fibers, jute, etc), cut a long length of ribbon and bring the ends up through the holes in the back cover.  Thread through the Memory Protectors®
