"Bdloop" Card

The template for this fun card was shared at Stamp Camp this past weekend by fellow consultant Teri Wagner.  I have no idea what the name of this card is, but Teri made the funniest "bdloop" sound as she pulled the ribbon to make this card move, so that's what I have called it.   Actually, you could call it a Pull-and-Flip card.  Another consultant friend at camp, Dana Swadling, had the idea of making this card with our new My Originals TM A Little Bee Card Kit, so that's what we did.  (Ok... so Dana did most of the design work, LOL... but I know she won't mind me sharing this with you).  It's kind of hard to show the card's movement through still photos, but I think you will get the idea.  The first picture shows the card closed.  As you pull down on the ribbon,  the 4 little photo areas begin to flip up (or "bdloop"), one at a time.  The final photo shows the card fully open to reveal the bee inside.  You could also stamp a message in that area.

Step 1: Prepare Card Pieces

These instructions are based on making a standard-size 5.5 x 4.25" card; fold at the side.  Decorate the card front as desired.  Using brads or eyelets, mount the 1.5 x 4.25" piece of coordinating cardstock about 1" from the bottom of the card as shown.  Do not glue down the entire piece; just secure it at both sides with a brad or eyelet.

Decorate the four 1.75" squares as desired.  We cut ours out of blue cardstock, and then decorated them with stickers from the card kit.

Measuring from the top of the 9.25" strip, score across the strip at 2", 2.75", 3.5" and 4.25".  Fold along each score line to set the crease.  Fold strip along the 4.25" score line.

Step 2: Assemble Card

Refer to the above photo for assembly help.  Slide the flat side of your folded strip down through the  cardstock strip on the front of the card.  Apply adhesive to the back of each of the 4 decorated squares, but only towards the top; do not cover the entire backside with adhesive.  Mount the 4 decorated squares on the strip so that the top of each square lines up with one of the fold lines, as shown.  They will "cascade" down the front of the strip.

Apply adhesive to the center of the 1.5" cardstock piece (you can even see a piece of double-stick tape in the above photo where the adhesive needs to go....).  Move the decorated strip until the bottom of the 2" scored area (this area now holds the bottom decorated square) lines up with the lower edge of the 1.5" cardstock piece.  Securely glue these pieces to each other.  Check out the very first photo again to see how these pieces should line up if you need to.  *The long, unscored part of your strip should move freely behind the 1.5" cardstock piece.*

Step 3: Final Decorations

Pull down on the strip and say "bdloop!" as the squares flip up to reveal one after another.  Cool, huh?  With the strip extended, you can now decorate the very bottom.  Punch a hole in the bottom edge and tie a ribbon through to form a "handle".  Have fun!
