Coiled Spring Card

This interactive card is quite easy to make!  It uses the Coluzzle®  Cutting System with the circle template (though you could probably substitute graduated sizes of circle stencils).  Take a look at the card "closed" and "open".  The swirl clip is used as a "pull" to open the card:

Supplies:

Stamps of your choice

Papers and inks in your choice of colors- I've used Close To My Heart's TM Summer Carnival Colors as well as Grey Flannel

3-D Foam Square

Coluzzle®  cutting system with circle template

Piercing Tool

Corner Rounder

Swirl Clip

Step 1:  Stamp and Decorate!

Stamp and decorate your card front and inside message as desired.  For my card, I stamped a 5x5" square of white cardstock with butterflies.  This size makes it easier to cut the circles later, since the Coluzzle® circle template is 5x5" square.  Corner round the pieces as desired.

Step 2: Cut

Lay the Coluzzle® circle template on top of the stamped 5x5" piece of white cardstock.  Using the cutting tool, cut around every other circle on the template.  Rotate the template 90 degrees, and cut around the remaining circles.  You might find it helpful to mark every other circle on your template in red, and the others in blue.  Remove the template but do NOT finish cutting out the circles- leave the little bits of cardstock between the halves of each circle.  (Refer to the photo below to see the cutting pattern you should have achieved.  I have marked alternating circles in red and blue just so you can see it better).  If you do not have the Coluzzle® circle cutter, you could try to duplicate the circle cuts with graduating sizes of circles using a circle stencil and referring to the photo to see where not to cut.

Step 3:  Assemble

Assemble all layers as shown.  The swirl clip can be attached directly to the center of your circle pattern (use the piercing tool to poke 2 holes for it).   Or you can stamp an image on a separate piece of cardstock (I used a butterfly), attach the swirl clip, and adhere it to the card front with a 3-D foam square.
