July 2005 Idea of the Month Cassette Case Business Card Holder or Gift Box
This unique idea is made using an empty cassette tape case! I took these to convention to swap with other consultants (a major convention activity!). They make a great holder for your business cards as shown, or use it to "wrap" a small gift. If using it for a gift, stamp a message like "Happy Birthday" across the front in place of the logo.
Supplies: Stamps of your choice Papers and inks in your choice of colors Scoring tool or bone folder Eyelets Eyelet setter Ruler Adhesive Needle-nose pliers
Step 1: Prepare the Case Use the needle-nose pliers to carefully twist off the 2 plastic tabs inside the case that normally would hold the cassette tape in place.
Step 2: Cut and Stamp Cut cardstock and/or patterned or stamped paper to size. Here are the sizes I used for my standard-size case:
Stamp and decorate your pieces as desired. Set eyelets as shown in photo ( or you could use brads, buttons, etc to deocrate).
Step 3: Assemble
Score the 4" wide piece of colored cardstock at 1" from the bottom AND at 1.5"
from the bottom as shown. (Be careful here... be sure you lay the
cardstock down so it is oriented correctly... the width and height measurements
are very close so it's hard to tell). Fold along score lines, adhere all
pieces, and insert into case.
