Metallic Resist Technique

I was inspired by fellow consultant Sally Lynn MacDonald when I made this card.  I am using these as invitations for our upcoming wine tasting.  The result is stunning, isn't it?  But the technique is surprisingly simple, as you'll see if you keep reading.  The card is actually prettier in "real life," because the metallic accents are much shinier than this picture shows.

Supplies:

C1023 Cheers stamp set (set of 4)

Brilliance TM Galaxy Gold metallic ink pad

Craft Heater

Versamark TM ink pad

Clear embossing powder

Gold brads

Close To My Heart TM  Fleur Des Jardine white-on-white vellum

Black Close To My Heart TM  Cardstock

Piercing tool

Scrap paper

Step 1:

Using clear embossing powder and the Versamark TM ink pad, heat emboss your image onto a piece of black cardstock.  You can also use any other dark color of cardstock.

Step 2:

Lay the embossed piece onto scrap paper.  Hold the gold metallic ink pad in your hand and swipe it across the entire face of the cardstock.  As you swipe, the embossed image will resist the ink, causing it to "pop" out of the paper!  Let dry.

Step 3:

I glued a strip of  Close To My Heart TM  Fleur Des Jardine white-on-white vellum onto the card front, and then used brads to mount the metallic image over top.  Our new piercing tool makes poking holes for brads, etc quick and easy!  Stamp message of your choice in metallic ink.
