Candy Bar Pull-Up Party Favor

These fun party favors are easier to make than they look!  The photo on the left shows the Candy Bar Pull-Up closed; the photo on the right shows what happens when you pull on the tag.

Supplies:

1.55 oz Hershey TM Candy Bar (or other candy bar of similar size, about 2 x 5.5”)

6x6" white cardstock or paper (this is the FINISHED size... if you want to use fancy edgers on  the top and bottom edge, cut to 6 x 6.5"

6 x 3.75" Background/Texture paper

1.75" square white cardstock or paper

2" square colored cardstock

1 x 2" rectangle colored cardstock

About 29" thin ribbon

Small label (or cardstock) printed with "Pull the ribbon for a Sweet Treat."  This label/piece should be glued onto the 1x2" rectangle of colored cardstock to form your Ribbon Tag (see photo above).  I used .5 x 1.75" mailing labels.

Hole punch

Adhesive (double-stick tape is recommended for this project)

Stamps and inks of your choice.

Step 1: Stamp and Decorate

Start by random stamping on the 6x6" piece of white cardstock.  (Optional:  If you cut your piece larger, trim the top and bottom edges using fancy edgers so that the finished size is 6x6".  I pinked the top and bottom edges in my sample).

Stamp and decorate the 1.75" square of white cardstock as well.  Mount this piece onto the 2" square of colored cardstock.  This will be the focal point, but set it aside for now.

Mount the Background/Texture paper strip across the center of the stamped 6x6" cardstock square.

Step 2: Assemble

Wrap the decorated 6x6" square around the candy bar to form your Candy Bar Pull-Up… but not too tight!  You want the candy bar to be able to move up and down easily inside the Pull-Up (yes, it’s ok if the candy bar has a tendency to fall out right now!).  Place double-stick tape or strong adhesive along one edge to adhere the cardstock around candy bar.  Do NOT glue the cardstock to the candy bar... just form a fairly loose "wrapper" around the candy bar.

Close To My Heart Candy Bar Pull Up Party FavorRemove candy bar.  Gently squeeze the center top edges of the Pull-Up together and punch one hole through all layers in the middle, about ¼” in from the top (see photo on left).  Also punch a single hole through one end of your Ribbon Tag.

Thread ribbon through the holes on the Pull-Up and pull until ends are even on both sides.  Thread Ribbon Tag onto the ribbon coming out the front side and slide it all the way up so it rests on the Pull-Up.

Now, just slide the candy bar back into the Pull-Up from the top, allowing it to push the ribbon down with it as it goes inside.  The ribbon will be looped around the bottom of the candy bar to hold it in place.

Tie the ribbon into a bow at the top.

Mount your decorated 2" square on the center front of the Pull-Up.

To operate the Pull-Up, just gently pull on the tag.  Too cute!
