December 2004 Idea of the Month

Ornament Card

Whose idea was it to attach a My Accents TM swirl clip to a cardstock circle to create an ornament?  Why, fellow consultant and friend Beth Mullins, that's who!  I've used Beth's idea to create an ornament and gift card from our new My Reflections TM Traditional Holiday Scrapbook kit.  The papers and My Stickease TM designs are used to decorate this pretty ornament.

Black Exclusive Inks TM Stamp Pad

Vellum

Gold Eyelets

Write-and-Rub pen

Gold Glitter

Gold foil sheets

My Accents TM swirl clip (gold, silver or pewter look nice)

Coluzzle TM circle cutter or circle stencil

Step 1: Cut and Decorate

Cut 2 circles approx. 3 - 3.25" in diameter from  your choice of papers from the Level 1 scrapbook kit.  Use the border designs from the kit and cut to form "stripes" across one side of your ornament.  Stamp a holiday greeting on the other side of the ornament.  Glue both sides of the ornament together.

Step 2: Add Hanger

Using the Write-and-Rub pen, apply glue to edge of the ornament (do one side of ornament at a time).  When glue is tacky, rub on gold glitter.  Repeat on other side of ornament.   Choose one of the larger swirl clips from the My Accents TM tube.  Cut a small piece of gold foil sheet (approx. 3/8" x 1" long) and fold over clip.  Trim ends of foil with scissors to form a decorative edge.  Apply adhesive to inside of foil flaps, and adhere foil to ornament top.

Step 3: Create Card Holder

Create a standard-size 4.25 x 5.5" card.  Decorate card front as desired, but I recommend that you keep it simple since the ornament will be your focal point.  I used a piece of vellum (attached with eyelets) to form a pocket to hold the ornament.
