Idea of the Month Graduation Hat Card It's that time of year: graduation time! And here is the perfect card for that special graduate. It's quick, it's easy, and it's impressive...what could be better? Step 1
Begin with a square piece of cardstock. Many graduation caps are black, so I often use black cardstock. But it's a nice touch if you can find out the graduate's school colors and use one of those colors of cardstock. The size of the square is up to you, but remember the final card size will be smaller. An 8-1/2" square of cardstock will make a card that is 6" square. Mark the exact center of the card (don't worry about marks on the cardstock...these will be covered up later). Measure carefully, as exact measurements are important with this card! Step 2
Fold each corner to the center point. See why you need to measure carefully? Measure the square area inside the card and cut a piece of white cardstock to fit. This is the inside of the card where you will stamp your message. Stamp and decorate the white cardstock as you wish, and then glue it to the inside of the "hat". Step 3
Turn the card over and glue a coordinating button and tassel in the center. If you don't have a tassel, ribbon will do just fine. Presto! You now have a mini graduation cap! I just love this card, and everyone I've given it to has loved it, too! Click Here to return to the Past Ideas page
