Idea of the Month Stationery Folder #1 Here's a lovely way to present a special gift of hand-stamped cards and envelopes: a stationery folder! This project is amazingly easy, too! Stay tuned for more ways to create stationery folders in future months. Stationery Folder #1
Start with a standard-size piece of cardstock (8-1/2 x 11"). It can be patterned or plain (the latter if you want to stamp it up!). Fold in half cross-wise (so it measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2"); unfold. Place cardstock lengthwise in front of you and fold up the bottom 2 inches or so of the long edge; unfold. Keeping the cardstock lengthwise in front of you and with the 2" fold-line still towards the bottom , lightly mark along the bottom edge about 1" out from the center fold on each side. With scissors, cut from each mark up to where the fold lines cross; you will be cutting out a triangular piece of the cardstock at the center bottom (see photo). Form pockets by putting adhesive on the short, straight side edges only of the 2" flaps; fold up to adhere (do not put adhesive on the edges you cut). Decorate the front of the folder as desired, and insert stationery. Note: for a cleaner look, you may wish to cut your triangle so that the tip is still on the center fold, but not quite up to where the fold lines cross. This keeps the cut edge inside the folder when it is finished. Click here to return to the Past Ideas page
